This year will be better than last year, no matter what comes our way.

We can only prepare to the best of our abilities, be as resilient as possible, and as positive as possible to whatever challenges come our way. I can say that with my business partners, we are as much prepared and excited for the journeys this new year brings.

Fredrich Nietzsche was quoted as saying "That which does not kill us, makes us stronger." I've often thought and felt that sentiment to myself from a young age without realizing Fredrich was given credit for the quote. To my delight, I discovered that Ghenghis Khan was noted having said something to the same effect thousands of years ago as well. What other similarities do I share with these people who've had the same thought?

Because mankind has witnessed lightning over the millenial ages, does not necessary mean that only Benjamin Franklin "discovered" electricity when he flew a kite, although credit is given to him through many text books. Mr. Franklin deserves recognition for having the bravery to get wet in a storm with a kite, possibly in some attempt to "touch the sky" curiously to see what those bright bolts were all about! He shared his findings and maybe therefore, with the power of the pen being mightier than the sword, impressed his place in history among the discoverers of electricity.

Being different by striving to be the best is what sets many apart. Benjamin Franklin was not afraid to get wet and test the storm. The winner in an Olympic 100 yard dash is usually ten thousandths of a second ahead of the others. The fraction of that effort is what delineates the first place champion from the top five finishers. Such a small fraction of time, but it's the small things that make the difference.

I am reading Jim Collins' book "Good to Great." As I read my way through his reasonings and lessons, I am proud that we at Wisteria House already model in many ways what he has recommended. We realized long ago that whatever we do in business or otherwise, you must be the absolute best to set yourself apart. We sell the absolute best in quality products. By measurement standards, all our products are also RoHs compliant. (For example, the Armadillo Dollar and Armadillo Card Shield beats out all others in effectiveness tests hands down, and at broad spectrum frequencies.) While consumers have virtually no idea about the invisible RF vulnerabilities of competitors, we can say with absolute confidence, that our products are the best being sold on the market in identity protection regarding RF card shielding. armadillo dollar  On that, you can bet your bottom dollar.

With the New Year here, we pray for health, prosperity, peace and understanding to all those we encounter and for ourselves. God Bless You all and Happy 2009!

Arizona Technology Council's Bites, Bots & Beer PDF Print E-mail

Bites, bots and beer

As Arizona Technology Council members, one of the issues we are strong on as a company and want to help promote is education. The AZ Tech Council calls it STEM, which is short for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, and they are actively promoting it throughout the junior high and high schools.  This in turn will help local businesses who are part of the Az Tech Council, such as Raytheon and Intel, grow when they can hire locals who have by then received an education in science, technology, engineering and math.  By promoting education in the local schools, students may then be inclined to further their education in college and the trades by becoming an integral part of one of the local technology companies, or go into business themselves.

We went to an AZ Tech Council meeting, and I mentioned to the organizer of the BotFest, as we are calling it, that I remember how the local South Mountain high school team beat out the MIT team two years ago. He said "yes, this was that event", in another go-round. See WIRED Magazine link HERE

We are proud of our local high schoolers, and we are proud of the fact that we get to help promote an event that will engage the young minds by bringing them into STEM through a challenging project. One of our company founders used to teach high school in an Arizona town, and is very pleased that we are part of the beginning stage to get money to FIRST, who can then help the teachers get the supplies and the teams together for another challenging and promising year of bot competition.           Link for Pictures of Event
